Edem Atsu-Swanzy was born Chris Edem Atsu-Swanzy in Accra, Ghana on October 29, 1987. His father, John Atsu-Swanzy is from Atorkor, Ghana and his mother, Georgina Atsu-Swanzy is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His family migrated to the United Kingdom from 1989-1991 and eventually arrived to Glassboro, New Jersey in February 1992. Edem went through the Glassboro Public School system and graduated from Glassboro High School in 2006. After graduation, he attended the United States Naval Academy and received a degree in a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 2010.
Following his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, Edem served in the U.S. Navy for multiple tours in San Diego, Middle East, Philippines, and other duty stations.
Edem began acting as a child in the theatrical play, Oliver Twist. He played one of the Faegan Boys and he was able to perform his heart out. Recently, Edem created “Similar Odds”, a series dealing with the ups and downs of an interracial couple. He is filming, “To Kill A Prophet” and set to hit theaters in 2020, and his film “Snowball” is currently doing a film festival run domestically and internationally. Edem has other productions coming up in 2019 and 2020.
